Afterworld is based on my first book
Afterworld When Ghosts Disappear. It is about a Grandfather struggling to keep his grandchildren alive in a post-apocalyptic world in the near future, right after the birth of his first great-grandchild.
He dies right at the beginning of the movie. He ignores the light and turns his attention to keeping his grandchildren alive.
This is where the movie really gets weird. Grandfather now becomes involved in the weird world of spirits that remain on the earth after death. He turns into a sword-wielding action type hero as he battles the spirits that line up against his children.
Grandfather gathers an odd assortment of spirits to help him and ultimately battles the spirit of a former multi-billionaire businessman who wants to overthrow God in heaven.
When faced with overwhelming odds and fears left over from his life, Grandfather is faced with bizarre choices and chooses the most bizarre one of all.

This story is definitely metaphysical and is based on my experiences as I battled a lengthy illness (that almost killed me - but it didn't - aren't you lucky.)
